GENERAL INFORMATION
WHY DOES THE COMPANY EXIST ?
We have been growing increasingly annoyed by the lack of Eastern films on the shelves in the local shops, and it appears to be a problem in many parts of the country. To make things worse, the Virgin Megastore here in Bristol first of all moved the martial arts section to below its gay pornography section, then they did away with it altogether !
There isn't anywhere else in Bristol to get many of the items we are selling, and there will be items that no one else in the country is selling. Also, we are fed up with the number of people selling dodgy pirated copies of films which are really quite easy to get originals of.
OUR AIM
There are some films that you can only realistically get in the form of pirated copies these days - most Shaw Brothers films for instance, but for everything else, come to us. The aim of the company is to distribute as many different films as possible to reduce the need for pirated copies, to promote Eastern films in the west, and to build the best possible data base on what is out there for your viewing pleasure. It's as simple as that.
Ideally, we would like to have a complete listing of everything available in the world, and if possible, have every item on that list available to buy from us. This is near impossible, and many companies will not export, which makes things difficult. If you can help us by providing items not already listed on the site, please let us know.
The aim of this site is to give a little more information than the catalogue does, including information on cuts to films, film synopsis, reviews, and pictures of video covers and posters etc.
ACCURACY OF INFORMATION
Please bear in mind that information on the subject of Oriental films can be difficult to obtain, and we have often found that other sources of information have had some glaring errors. A lot of the information is taken from publications and some from other internet sites, but wherever possible, is taken directly from the credits of a film. We have tried to get the information as accurate as possible. Please e - mail us any queries / corrections.
NAMES.Due to Oriental actors having adopted Westernised names, Chinese actors having both a Cantonese and Mandarin name, and due to bad English translations, people are often listed under various different names. We have tried to list people under the same name every time they appear in the catalogue, but we have had some problems, such as the fact there are at least 3 different Tony Leung's. Where someone has a western name, we have combined what appears to be the most commonly used Chinese name with their Western name. So, Chow Sing Chi, Western name Stephen Chow is listed as Stephen Chow Sing Chi.
