OK since I don't know how to design websites well, I wasted a year and a half on this doing it the hard way. This project has been suspended until such time as I know how to deal with Mysql, PHP, ASP etc. so I can do it the easy way.....Sorry about that.

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS

( 28 / 3 / 04 ) At last we seem to have gotten all the bugs out of the system and have added a few more titles. Now all the mistakes of the past are seemingly rectified, we can get on with this project and there should be new material added quite regularly.

( 10 / 10 / 03 ) Over the last few weeks, I've received emails from people saying 'Why isn't ( whatever film ) listed under ( whatever persons ) filmography ?' I'm mainly going through in alphabetical order from A - Z adding whatever films I can ( mainly Chinese at the moment ) as I go, anything listed under other letters thus far is usually because I've recently watched it, or due to an alias beginning with the letter a or b. This site is a work in progress, and will probably never be complete. As soon as you think you're getting on top of the situation, you realise you've done 10 films in the last week, but 30 more have been released....I've also had emails from people, some getting quite snotty because they see a film listed and expect it to be available, then get upset when it's not. Part of the 'modus operandi' of the site is to make people aware that these films were made whether they be available or not. If you are looking for something, please do feel free to ask, but don't be upset with me that it's not available for sale anywhere in the world - it's not my fault.....

( 22 / 9 / 03 ) Here we are 1 year on from the conception of the Oriental Film Archive, and I have to admit, I haven't done as much as I was hoping to. There have been a lot of technical difficulties over the last year ( and still are, Frontpage is a knightmare to design pages with, it keeps freezing and mucking up links ). But, we've passed the 500 films mark. There are pages for over 250 production companies, 2700 people and 1000 pictures. It's a good strong foundation and we will continue to grow and expand the site as time allows. Lots of things that were wrong ( links that Frontpage messed up ) have been fixed. Over the next year, a heck of a lot more is coming. Please check back from time to time...

( 13 / 5 / 03 ) I have gone through the A's and added lots more information, and a few dozen more pictures, and generally tidied things up a bit. It's a lot better now than it was before. There have been a few other things added, and it's starting to look pretty good. I apologise for the film company names that are Chinese pronunciations. Where possible I've verified the English names. The B's have started in earnest, and I hope to sprinkle in some more Thai, Korean and Japanese films among all the Hong Kong, China and Taiwan productions soon. I was originally going to separate everything by country, but decided it was too much hassle in the end, and for ease of use it was better to have everything mixed in together. I have, however, kept the distribution companies separated by country so you can easily see what's been released in your part of the world.

( 20 / 2 / 03 ) - A small update on some information. I still have a bit to update on the A's, I don't know when work on the B's will start, but hopefully soon....

( 4 / 1 / 03 ) - I have finished the A's for Chinese films. At the moment there is information on over 300 films which includes over 650 pictures. Much more to come eventually....

( 13 / 10 / 02 ) The foundations have now been laid and I plan to build up the database bit by bit as I have the time to do it. But it is hugely time consuming and I have other projects to devote my energies to namely Oriental Film Review magazine. But it's looking pretty good for 3 weeks of work thus far.
